DTS Namespace Summary Module User Guide

Version 4.7.2

Introduction

The Namespace Summary DTS Editor Module creates a report containing statistics on a specified DTS Namespace. Included in the report are counts of the Concepts, Terms, and Versions present in the Namespace, as well as counts of all Concepts, Terms, and Versions having Property, Synonym, and Association instances. Note that this report, unlike the more detailed Namespace Stats report found in the DTSInstall\bin\kb\load folder, does not show instance counts of attributes, just counts of the higher level objects that contain specific attribute instances.

Installation

Extract the files in NamespaceSummary-4.7.2.zip into your DTSInstall directory. Be sure the Use folder names box is checked. This will place all the Namespace Summary files into the appropriate folders:

Folder                                                              Files

DTSInstall\bin\namespacesummary  NamespaceSummary.bat

DTSInstall\lib\modules                       namespacesummary.jar

pluginutils.jar

DTSInstall\docs                                      namespacesummaryuserguide.pdf

DTSInstall\docs\help                           namespacesummaryuserguide.htm

Running the Namespace Summary Module

The Namespace Summary Module is accessible in two ways:

1.      Using the Namespace Summary panel in the DTS Editor. The panel is started by selecting the Namespace Summary option in the DTS Editor Options menu. See Using the Namespace Summary Plug-in section below for further details.

2.      Running the Namespace Summary Module as a standalone application using the NamespaceSummary.bat batch file. See the Using the Namespace Summary Application section below.

Using the DTS Namespace Summary Plug-in

After selecting the Namespace Summary DTS Editor menu option, the main Namespace Summary dialog will open (see image below).

To create a report, select the desired Namespace from the Namespace dropdown, check the Include non-local attributes box if these attributes are to be included in the report, and click on Run Report. The report will be shown in the lower Output area. (The selected Namespace name will be displayed in the subpanel’s title.) See example below.

Within the report area, text can be selected and copied. To select all the text, use Ctrl A.

Using the Namespace Summary Application

The Namespace Summary application provides a “standalone” presentation of the module. Run the Namespace Summary application by executing the NamespaceSummary.bat  file found in DTSInstall\bin\namespacesummary. When the application starts, the Namespace Summary panel will be shown. This panel and the operation of the application is identical to that described in Using the DTS Namespace Summary Plug-In above
